FAQs
-
Arrive 10-15 minutes before the start time of your lesson to groom and tack up your horse.
We tailor these tasks based on rider age and ability.
-
Lessons run for the allotted time you scheduled.
After riding, we require all students to spend approximately 10 minutes to untack and groom their horse.
-
Riders must wear hard-soled shoes or boots, sneakers work well.
Long pants
Long hair must be tied back
A helmet is provided if the rider does not have their own.
-
We recommend purchasing the following items if you decide to continue lessons after completing one package.
Helmets: Much like shoes, helmets fit everyone differently. You may find one brand of helmet is more comfortable than others. As an important piece of safety equipment, we highly suggest purchasing your own.
Riding Boots: Not only are boots an important piece of safety equipment, they allow riders to move their ankle joint (arguably the most important foundational movement in horseback riding).
Many riders start in Paddock Boots. This important piece of equipment can increase the progress of lessons.
Riding Pants: Pants designed for riding have grip in the knee and/or seat. The extra grip provided by these sport specific pants can help the rider feel more stable without limiting movement.
Gloves: Winter gloves are highly recommended for lessons during the winter.
Some riders prefer to ride without gloves but having gloves available to protect their hands is recommended.
-
No. We do not allow dogs on any of our properties with the exception of trained service dogs.
-
No. Riders under the age of 18 must not be left unattended without prior consent from instructor.
-
Students arriving late will have that time deducted from their lesson.
Significant tardiness, more than 50% of the scheduled time, will result in cancellation of the lesson.
-
Lessons cancelled 12 hours in advance will not be charged for the cancellation.
-
Riders are allowed to cancel one per five lessons.
Students with more than one cancellation per 5 lessons are required to make up the lesson, in an additional timeslot, within two weeks that the lesson package has expired.
The rider may be exempt from this policy for an emergency or unforeseen circumstance.
Morningside Stables reserves the right to remove a rider’s reserved lesson slot in the event they excessively cancel.
